50 million euros for the hydrogen ramp-up in Schleswig-Holstein

Schleswig-Holstein is investing over 50 million euros in the sustainable hydrogen economy and is launching new funding for companies. This funding is intended to strengthen the regional economy in Schleswig-Holstein and promote investment in pioneering technologies with renewable hydrogen.

Schleswig-Holstein has launched new funding for the sustainable hydrogen economy. The state wants to support the ramp-up of this technology. The new funding guideline enables companies to promote projects for hydrogen-based technologies. Projects that sustainably produce and store renewable hydrogen from electrolysis are particularly favoured.

The funding comprises around 50 million euros from state funds and 10 million euros from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The first call for funding for companies will start at the beginning of May 2025 and companies can submit their project proposals to Wirtschaftsförderung und Technologietransfer Schleswig-Holstein GmbH (WTSH) within six weeks. Preference will be given to small and medium-sized enterprises. The WTSH will approve the funding and assess the project proposals on a technical basis.
